Some exciting things to do in London town –
The Experimental Cocktail Club
The trend for speakeasys seems unrelenting. One of these hidden spots is in Chinatown – behind a run down black door. It serves an amazing collection of imaginative cocktails. Now you just need to find the bar hidden behind a loo, a bookcase and a fridge.
Rope Walk is a new addition to the buzzing market scene in London. Hidden under the railways arches on Maltby Street it is a rich array of market traders and independent restaurants. Hot spots include Bar Tozino, an amazing authentic Spanish tapas bar with meat hanging in every direction. Not to miss is St Johns bakery with long queues every Saturday for their legendary donuts which are sold until they run out, get them quick!
A particularly vibrant part of town for a Sunday is Columbia Road with its colourful flower market. Pop into Lily Vanilli bakery which is decorated by the House of Hackney, Lily is famed for her creativity and strange flavour combinations. Or take a rest stop at Campania Gastronomia for fantastic Italian food straight from the Campanian region.
Hackney Wick is buzzing – with an abundant array of galleries and performance spaces. A new hot spot on the scene is Smokey Tails, right on the River Lea – it is a beautiful oasis which overlooks the Olympic Park, serving up BBQ food and beats. Crate is also worth a visit – Hackney Wick’s first brewery and pizzeria.
